UPDATES AS OF 9/17/06

Thanks to everyone who endured Saturday to bake or work at ValuMarket and Walgreens. We raised $353.48 between the two locations.

Time is growing short for us on fundraising for this season. We are scheduled at ValuMarket on Saturday, 09/30 from 10a-4pm. We need your help to make this a huge success! We are also participating in the Community Festival at ValuMarket on Saturday, 10/14. This is an all day (from noon to 9 pm) so we need lots of people to help all day long. Unless anyone has other ideas, we are planning a duck pond, a putting green, and possibly a cornhole toss game. We are also gathering items for a raffle. If you have any items you can donate toward the raffle, or know someone (such as a business, etc) that can donate items, we would love to have them. We need to finalize items for the raffle by Tuesday, 9/26. That gives me time to create fliers and tickets to begin preselling to our family, friends, neighbors, and anyone else you don't know. The drawings will be held at the end of the evening at the Community Festival.

We are also planning another Texas Hold Em tournament. I will have more information by the end of the week on the exact date, time and location.

These are the final attempts at fundraising for this season. If you have not had the opportunity to work at ANY other fundraiser, then please make time on your schedule to contribute. I have seen a lot of the same faces at previous events and it is time for everyone to pitch in to help out. All it takes it a few hours of your time; please mark a time block on your calendars NOW in preparation for the upcoming fundraising events.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks - Yvette.

Updates as of 9/14/06

Hello Cheer Parents:

Thanks to everyone for their participation in the fundraising events for last week and this upcoming Saturday. We raised $213.05 in our fundraisers last weekend. If you have last minute conflicts that prevent you from following through on your commitment for a fundraiser, then please call me so I can make other arrangements to cover for the shortage. I understand that we all experience schedule conflicts but I do appreciate the courtesy phone call to let me know of the change in plans.

We also have other fundraising opportunities in the near future:
1) Bagging groceries at ValuMarket on 09/30.
2) A booth at the Community Festival at ValuMarket on Saturday, 10/14, noon to 9 pm. We will have more discussions later about our plans for fundraising in our booth. This is a long event that also offers us additional exposure in the community and can be well worth the time spent to promote our sport and community involvement.
3) A Texas Hold Em tournament - more information soon on a date and location.

Other important dates to mark on your calendars:
October 7 is Homecoming Day. This is a special day for the cheerleaders with special recognition at half-time.
October 14 is Picture Day. Our official photographer is James Albers, who is Courtney and Chelsea's dad. He does a great job for us every year and has very reasonable package prices.
November 18 is our banquet. More information available later but expect great times with great food, entertainment, and lots of fun!

Our competitive team is performing at JamFest on Saturday, 09/23 at Slugger Field. Admission is free and we would love to see more familiar Fern Creek faces to support the team. I will let you know what time we compete when it publicized on Tuesday, 09/19. Please try to join us - we are very loud and have lots of spirit but we always need more!

I will bring socks to practice on Tuesday, 09/19. I had meant to have them to you before - I forgot them 2 weeks ago and then we were rained out this past Tuesday.

Please let me know if you have any questions - otherwise I will see you on the 19th.
Thanks - Yvette.

Updates week of 9/05/06

Good evening Cheer Parents!

We have several fundraisers over the next few weeks to give everyone an opportunity to contribute toward the banquet costs. Fundraising benefits you and your cheerleaders so everyone can enjoy a celebration of the season and receive recognition for their hard work and dedication. If we are unable to raise enough money to cover the costs of the banquet, then we must look to cover the costs by passing it along to everyone - I would much rather have a few hours of your time and donated goods to make our fundraisers a success for everyone!

Saturday, 09/09
10 am-2 pm Bake Sale at Walgreens - we need people to work and/or donate delicious goodies
9am - 2 pm Car Wash at Arby's - we need your time and your strong arm to help wash cars

Saturday, 09/16
10 am-2 pm Bake Sale at Walgreens - we need people to work and/or donate delicious goodies
9am - 2 pm Car Wash at Arby's - we need your time and your strong arm to help wash cars

Saturday, 9/30
10a - 4 pm Bagging groceries at Valumarket - This is a great way for us to make money! All we have to provide is parents, friends, family members and cheerleaders who are willing to work for a couple of hours bagging groceries!

Saturday, 10/14
We also have an opportunity to participate in the Highview Community Festival at ValuMarket. We have been invited to participate in a parade where the cheerleaders can receive additional recognition for their involvement in Fern Creek Sports - it will be a great time! We also have the opportunity to staff a booth and generate more toward our fundraising goals!

Please consider any or all of the dates and how you and your cheerleader can assist with fundraising. Fundraising is a great way to promote awareness of our involvement in Fern Creek Cheerleading! One of our moms, Leigh Sweeney, is helping me with scheduling volunteers at each event and she will contact you. You can also call me, email, or post a comment to this board if you are able to participate.

Thanks for your commitment and time to making this cheerleading program a success and an enjoyment for your cheerleaders! - Yvette.
